> What are the details we know of his condition, then?

>You know what he did, and basically how he did it. You also know that his reaction to defeat was to fall into deep depression for some weeks, before finally starting to be able to piece himself back together. Sometimes he has tried to slide back into old habits briefly, and more frequently has bouts of crippling depression where he barely reacts to anything. These had been getting less and less common as time went on. Visiting was always a something of a gamble; sometimes he would seem almost normal, other times he'd be inconsolable.

>You follow her out of the gallery, and into the northmost doorway.
>This leads you to a comfortably wide corridor, with a few doors open on either side. Tatsumaro leads you past a storeroom filled with tables and boxes of various sizes before turning into a room with several writing and work desks. The former have a smattering of papers and writing effects spread across them. There are a few people at work here, most humans with some obvious youkai heritage. Tatsumaro leads you to one desk, where a kobito in blue kimono is kneeling on a paper, pouring over it. She looks up, revealing that she is wearing an emerald ring as a headband, and says, "These them?"
>"Yes, Director," says Tatsumaro.
>"Well then," says the Kobito, standing up.

> "Of course. As I told Miss Tatsumaro, almost a full millennium ago, while I lived and worked at the Scarlet Devil Mansion, there was an explosion in the library, and in my efforts to save the visiting hakutaku, I blacked out, waking up in the forest outside New Glorian just this morning. Some unknown force sent me far, far forward in time to this day. I have all but secured a potential means to return home, but it requires an item from my time period. I would prefer something from my home, since it seems uncouth to ask for another's keepsake."
