> Are we strong enough to rip a bamboo stalk out of the ground, or at least in half, to carry around as a hand-held weapon?

>You could rip out a moderately large stalk, you imagine. Snapping one might be hand, as bamboo tends to fracture and bend easily, rather than snapping.

>Not really, more in its peripheral vision, if anything.
>One of them is fairly close to you, a bit to your right. The other is on the other side of the boar, reasonably close to it, and close to the edge of your vision in the bamboo.

>"Got it!" Reisen calls back.
>As you go to get the stalk, the boar charges at Reisen, prompting her to leap back further into the bamboo, out of easy sight, then into a fairly thick stand of it. You lose sight of her, as the boar tries to follow. You do hear rustling from higher up, though, suggesting that she has taken flight.
>In the meantime, you easily uproot the stalk of bamboo.

>You can still just see it.
>The bamboo is about ten or so feet long, and a bit over an inch in diameter. It would make a better lance, and a better club than that.

>Whomp the boar on the noggin.

>You are really upset about that right now; as much as you wouldn't want to use something like a sword on a boar in any event.
>You bring the length of bamboo down on the boar's head, walloping it firmly and causing it to stagger a little as it charges toward you. As it gets close, it rears up and aims its tusks right for your leg!

>Distracted by the length of bamboo, the boar is open to a swift kick to the face You bowl it over from the force, though you feel one of its tusks dig into the bottom of your sandal, just barely missing your foot.
>You fly back, managing to keep a hold on the bamboo. The boar is quickly picking itself up.
