Actually, the stuff about Reimu's tree made me realize that was about the tree, not the weird mechanical monster thing. The tree was worshipped for a day and then Reimu just forgot about it. The inexplicable desire to destroy might be related to that thing, though?

Hmm. We know that when the outside world forgets something, it ends up in Gensokyo. It seems this is all about what happens to something that's forgotten by Gensokyo. All three entities mentioned have been forgotten. Maybe there's more from other Quests? Remember the "Zero Quest", maybe there was something from there too. Also, I'm glad that Spectre wasn't forgotten in the end and she survives (hopefully).
