This FAQ covers some basic information about where to get Danmakufu and how to get it up and running. For help with making spellcards and other content, check the tutorial thread. If you're still having problems, this board will be happy to answer whatever questions it can.
We have an IRC channel now! We are in #danmakufu at irc.ppirc.net.
For the IRC-incapable, you can join the channel with MotK's webchat app (http://webchat.ppirc.net/?channels=danmakufu).

What is Danmaku-fu?
A C-based STG creator, made specifically to create Touhou-style shooting games.
Where can I get it?
Right here, sir: http://www.geocities.co.jp/SiliconValley-Oakland/9951/products/th_dnh.html
Download "東方弾幕風 v0.12m".
You'll need Applocale to run it properly, which is located here: http://www.microsoft.com/globaldev/tools/apploc.mspx
Run Applocale, browse for th_dnh.exe, select Japanese as the default language (bottom of the list), then create a shortcut to always run it using Japanese settings.
How can I learn?
If you know Japanese: http://www.geocities.co.jp/SiliconValley-Oakland/9951/products/th_dnh.html
"東方弾幕風ヘルプ" is the Japanese manual and "東方弾幕風講座" is the tutorial.
If you know English:

Where can I get a list of functions, etc.?

I can't get my script to work. Where can I go to find help?
Well, you can always ask right here, in this forum. The rest of the Danmakufu community will be glad to assist you in any way we can. Just make sure to leave cookies. We're not very fast.
I wrote an awesome script. Where can I post it?
In this forum is also fine. You're welcome to advertise any of your Danmakufu scripts here, post links, ask for opinions, etc.
Oh Gods right here oh please post your scripts here I want to play scripts please oh God thank you in advance very much yes thanks.
What is the Shot Replace Script and where can I get it?
The Shot Replace Script is a universal script made by Legend_Bird that you can #include in a script to use the special bullet sheet from CtC. It's popular around these parts and you'll need it for some of the scripts posted here. Download it here:
http://barneyzhenspages.googlepages.com/shot_replace.zip (http://barneyzhenspages.googlepages.com/shot_replace.zip)
Extract it into your base th_dnh folder; it creates a "lib" folder that your scripts will use to access it.
There is also a larger alternate Shot Replace Script with shots compiled by Helepolis and formatted by OnTheNet. You can get it here:
http://onthenet9999.webs.com/stuff/ExpandedShotData.zip (http://onthenet9999.webs.com/stuff/ExpandedShotData.zip)
This will also go in the ..\th_dnh\lib\ folder, so that it can be reached as \lib\ExpandedShotData\shot_replace.dnh.

Since you seem to know about danmakufu, I'll let you migrate the necessary info from the previous stickies and sticky them here for you.
As for your question, I honestly don't know. Sorry.
-
Roger that.
-
Forum is a bit bare. Not much happening in the Danmakufu world it seems.
-
Oh jeez, I hope you didn't get the wrong idea from my description of the expanded shot replace. It isn't meant as a replacement for the old shot replace script, and it's missing many CtC exclusive bullets. I intended it to have its own folder, and for you to access it the same way as the CtC version, but changing the file the #include_function points to. I personally have it in "lib\ExpandedShotData". Sorry for the misunderstanding.
-
Oh, whoops. That explains why I was having errors :V

I tried to open th_dnh with AppLocale, and it didn't work. Where did I go wrong:
1. Installed th_dnh.
1. Installed AppLocale using crazy Windows Vista workarounds.
2. Chose th_dnh to apply AppLocale with, and left the Arguments field blank.
3. For the language, there are three choices down at the end that look like they could be Japanese. I've tried all three of them.
4. th_dnh opens with a gray screen and crashes.
Help?
-
Try the fourth to last one.
-
Try opening it with config.exe. Open it and click the button on the bottom closest to the left.
-
config.exe worked, thanks!
-
We now have our own irc channel, check it out punks. Info in the first post.
-
is the site down? ive been getting a 503 error for about a week now.
-
Just google "irc clients" and download one.
-
It's been down for a week for me too.
I have mIRC, but...
What port do I connect to? I see no mention about a port on the IRC page at all.
-
Usually it's always 6667.
I think.
-
the irc channel rocks
-
Oh, I almost forgot to mention that it works now. Thanks, Hizengar Byakuren. :D
-
Please modify the url inside for the expanded shotdata to the thread or something, as the old one was buggy but both versions were kept up.
-
I tried to run Danmakufu on Windows 7 (using all sorts of crazy workarounds), but attempting to do anything outside the main menu?
Instant crash.
-
Just sounds like it's not being run in a Japanese locale. Turn off User Account Control (or equivilant for Windows 7), run Applocale as administrator, try running Danmakufu using the program. Despite being advertised as a non-unicode workaround for Windows XP, it does work with Vista (and Windows 7, I imagine). Post your results for more troubleshooting.
-
Definitely running in Japanese.
Has to be the last one; the two above it are Chinese (Simplified Han) and Chinese (Traditional Han).
And yet...
th_dnh.exe has stopped working
-
Try opening it through config.exe
-
That didn't work.
And another thing: Isn't DMF supposed to come with Reimu and Marisa player scripts?
...hm...
-

Those are hard-coded on DMF, they won't show up on your folders.
-
Those are hard-coded on DMF, they won't show up on your folders.
So you can't edit them.
-
So you can't edit them.
Other than thier graphics/sounds
-
Hey, just noticed something odd.
The "Directory" option works, but attempting to open a folder from there leads to a crash.
Attempting to play a script from there also leads to a crash. Curiouser and curiouser...
Maybe the script just doesn't work...
No, that can't be right. The Script That Does Nothing also causes a crash.
-
Oh, hey. Turns out I installed AppLocale wrong.
The workaround involved moving it from another location, so AppLocale wouldn't run correctly.
So now DMF works.
-
Horray
-
dont post such things here. there's a help thread for that! :P
